Wednesday, Dec. 12, is the last chance for Americans to submit comments to government agencies about the proposed regulations that will be used to enforce the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

The regulations were made public the first week of October, a few weeks short of the year anniversary when the UIGEA was signed into law by the president. The next step will have officials in the Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Board review comments. This could take up to half a year.

Click here to read more about the regulations and the UIGEA, which aims to suffocate online gambling and poker in America by making it extremely difficult to deposit and withdraw money with the sites.

People can view the regulations and comment on them through www.regulations.gov. To find the right page, visit the site, click "search for dockets" at the top of the page, and search for docket number Treas-DO-2007-0015.

Comments can also be sent to the government via e-mail to [email protected]. The docket number Treas-DO-2007-0015 must be included in the subject line. Comments could also be faxed to the offices at (202) 452-3819 or (202) 452-3102. Again, the docket number must be included in all communications.
