To say that this weekend's tournaments were both interesting and influential would be putting it mildly. The huge roster of tournaments on Sunday resulted in at least three major developments.
First of all,
Scott "BigRiskky" Clements, a player who has been having a
huge year in live tournaments and who came in fourth place in the
Card Player Player of the Year race this year, won the biggest weekly online poker tournament, the PokerStars
Sunday Million. (

David Pham, the winner of this year's Player of the Year award.)
Secondly,
Greg "Wild Duck" Hobson (aka DuckU) finished off the
UltimateBet Online Championship 2 (
UBOC 2) in style by making the final table of yet another event. Hobson had an astounding run at the
UBOC 2, taking down two events (
event No. 2 and
event No. 4) and finishing in fifth place in two events (
event No. 5 and
event No. 10). He earned nearly $110,000 from those finishes alone, and he also won $30,000 for winning the
UBOC 2 leader board. Those four finishes also netted him 1,260
Card Player Online Player of the Year (OPOY) points, shooting him into fifth place on that leader board.
And finally, speaking of the OPOY leader board,
Isaac "westmenloAA" Baron, currently in the No. 2 spot, closed the gap between him and current OPOY leader
Matt "ch0ppy" Kay with a third-place finish in the
UBOC 2 main event. The race is now ridiculously close with only two weeks remaining.

Here are some short recaps of a few of the weekend's biggest events:
PokerStars Sunday Million
The
PokerStars Sunday Million had 6,769 entrants last night to generate a prize pool of $1,353,800. These numbers were up significantly from last week's 6,342 entrants and $1,268,400 prize pool, likely due to both the
UBOC 2 main event and the monthly $1 million-guaranteed event at Full Tilt.
Scott "BigRiskky" Clements made it to the final table of the event and eventually found himself threehanded with the chip lead versus Carden72 and holdplz. The final three players made a deal for the remaining portion of the prize pool, with BigRiskky guaranteeing himself the lions share, and $30,000 remained on the line for the eventual winner. BigRiskky followed through and earned that extra money when he outlasted his two opponents to take the final pot from holdplz. His total winnings for the event came to $165,552.
The final results were:
- Scott "BigRiskky" Clements - $165,552 *
- holdplz - $93,160 *
- Carden72 - $95,984 *
- PokerSkiBum - $54,152
- joacb - $40,614
- CrossyDC - $29,784
- Rover10 - $20,984
- maxit11 - $12,184
- v1ckster - $7,987

Full Tilt $1 Million Guaranteed
The monthly $1 million-guaranteed event at
Full Tilt lured 2,395 entrants last night, making for a total prize pool of $1,197,500. This event had the largest first-place prize of the weekend, at $219,681, despite having a smaller prize pool than the PokerStars
Sunday Million (the first-place prize of the
Sunday Million would have been smaller than that of this tournament even if a deal had not been made at its final table). The last time this tournament was held (on Oct. 21, a month before the
Full Tilt Online Poker Series VI), it had 2,152 entrants and a prize pool of $1,076,000.
Both the winner and runner-up in the event would collect the only six-figure paydays. Those two players were The Vuk and HoodyHooTay, who had outlasted 2,393 other players to get to heads-up play versus each other. The Vuk eventually sent his opponent to the rail to collect the first-place prize.
The final results were:
- The Vuk - $219,681
- HoodyHooTay - $134,838
- I_____N_____1 - $88,255
- Luke "magikstick8" Vrabel - $70,413
- becktacular - $53,288
- J FREE - $38,320
- Tim "cane3418" Seidensticker - $28,141
- HorningT12 - $22,034
- mordi20 - $16,765
UltimateBet Online Championship 2 Main Event
The
UltimateBet Online Championship 2 (
UBOC 2) came to a close this weekend with a huge main event. The tournament, a $1,000 buy-in, $750,000-guaranteed no-limit hold'em event, had 807 entrants and a prize pool of $807,000. Last year's inaugural main event had a $1 million-guaranteed prize pool but only attracted 1,400 entrants at $500 apiece, meaning it required a $300,000 overlay.
This year's event had massive ramifications in regard to the
Card Player Online Player of the Year race. Isaac "bossmenlo" Baron, currently in the No. 2 spot in the OPOY race, made it to threehanded play in the huge event. He was facing neverlovedu and
psmoney. Bossmenlo didn't make it any further, however, and dropped out of the tournament in third place. (Read about his finish's affect on the OPOY race by
clicking here.) Psmoney and neverlovedu were then heads up, and psmoney eliminated his final opponent to collect the $181,575 first-place prize.
The final results were:
- psmoney - $181,575
- neverlovedu - $108,945
- Isaac "bossmenlo" Baron (aka westmenloAA) - $74,648
- lapplisa - $52,455
- dipthr0ng - $44,385
- WarrickDunn28 (aka SNo0oWMAN) - $36,315
- aaaaowns - $28,245
- twit38 - $20,175
- Matt "MattSuspect" Molinari - $14,123
- amak316 - $8,070
Bodog $100,000 Guarantee
The $100,000-guaranteed tournament at
Bodog had 747 entrants last night, meaning that Bodog put up $25,300 to match the posted guarantee. This was up from last week's event, which had just 729 entrants. The final table of last night's tournament was incredibly stacked. Of the nine people at the final table, four had made the final table before -
Hixx (first place on Oct. 21),
johnny_vegas (second on Sept. 16),
Dubduece88 (fourth on June 17), and
thecure19 (eighth on Feb. 11). Of those four, only Hixx wouldn't make it to fourhanded play. The other three joined
AgentSSE (who
almost made the final table on June 17, finishing in 14th) as the final four players remaining to duke it out for the $25,000 top prize. AgentSSE defeated his three opponents to finish in first place in the event.
The final results were:
- AgentSSE - $25,000
- johnny_vegas - $14,300
- Dubduece88 - $9,200
- thecure19 - $6,900
- BandAidKid - $5,500
- juslearning - $4,500
- MarkFSU1 - $3,500
- Hixx - $2,500
