National Heads-Up Poker Broadcast Schedule Released

The 2008 Version of NBC's Heads-Up Championship Is Aired Starting April 13

The broadcast dates for the 2008 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship have been released. NBC will broadcast 12 hours of the heads-up poker tournament that will be filmed at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas Feb. 29-March 2.

The NHUPC will be broadcast for six consecutive Sundays starting April 13. The schedule follows:

  • April 13: noon-2 p.m. ET/ 9 a.m.-11 a.m. PT
  • April 20: noon-1 p.m. ET/ 9 a.m.-10 a.m. PT
  • April 27: noon-2 p.m. ET/ 9 a.m.-11 a.m. PT
  • May 4: noon.-2 p.m. ET/ 9 a.m.-11 a.m. PT
  • May 11: noon-2 p.m. ET/ 9 a.m.-11 a.m. PT
  • May 18: noon-3 p.m. ET/ 9 a.m.-1 p.m. PT 

Invitations have been sent out to the players, and producers are waiting for all of the confirmations to be in before announcing the actual lineup of 62 players (the last two players will have won their seats either through a $540 qualifier at Caesars Palace Feb. 17 or through a free online poker tournament through NBC’s NHUPC site).

The NHUPC started in 2005 and was won by Phil Hellmuth, who beat Chris Ferguson in the championship match. A year later, Ferguson again made it to the championship match, but lost to Ted Forrest. In 2007, Paul Wasicka beat Chad Brown to win the championship.
