In this "Strip Poker" series, Card Player covers the Las Vegas poker scene — on The Strip and around the city.

The deep starting stacks, generous blinds structure, and one of the biggest poker rooms on The Strip attracted 571 entrants to the first event of the 2008 Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza.

The prize pool in this $300 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament was more than $165,000. Joshua Woosley beat Roy Best heads up to win just under $48,000. Best received more than $25,000 for his efforts. For more complete results on this event, click here.
