Instead of hugs and kisses, it will be bluffs and check-raises this weekend. Valentine’s Day is only a week a way, and two casinos are giving people a new way to celebrate the holiday with poker.

The Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California, is hosting a Sweet Heart’s Weekend. It kicks off tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. with a $60 buy-in Battle of the Sexes no-limit hold’em event. The men and women will be separated and will compete in two different tournaments until a final table is set. The remaining players will redraw seats and combine. They will compete until there is one man or woman champion.

Alexia Standard and Brandon CantuOn Saturday, there will be a Valentine’s Date Night tag-team no-limit hold’em tournament. It is a $125 buy-in event that begins at 4:15 p.m. The two-person teams will switch every blind level, which are 20 minutes long. Capping off Sweet Heart’s Weekend is Sunday’s $60 buy-in Queen of Hearts ladies no-limit hold’em tournament, which begins at 2:15 p.m.

For those who live in Las Vegas, Caesars Palace is once again hosting their Valentines Couples Poker Tournament this Sunday. The buy-in is $230 per couple. In a tag-team style, one partner will play for the first 20 minutes of every 40-minute blind level while the other plays the last 20 in the same seat. Play will continue until there is one couple left.

Last year, the winning couple was World Series of Poker bracelet winner Brandon Cantu and friend Alexia Standard. They beat the 86 teams that played to win just under $6,200. Standard dedicated her win to the memory of her late father, who passed away in a roadside accident one week before the event.

Both casinos are expecting a big turnout and lots of love this weekend. For more information on Sweet Heart’s Weekend, call the Bike at 562-806-4646 and ask for the poker room.
