The first time Steve Lipscomb, World Poker Tour Enterprises founder, president, and CEO, hired Antonio Esfandiari, it was to perform magic at the press release party for the launch of the World Poker Tour.

Lipscomb just tapped Esfandiari for another duty for which the player known as “The Magician” is a natural fit. Esfandiari will join the WPTE as the face of the WPT Poker-Made Millionaire, which represents the 84 players who won a million dollars or more by playing in WPT events.

“I will never forget the day Steve Lipscomb hired me to perform magic at the press release party for the WPT,” said Esfandiari.  “All I ever wanted was to play in a WPT event, let alone win one. To have actually won a few years later and to now become the official spokesperson for a company that did so much for poker and me personally is an honor I hold very dear to me. It’s great to be a part of the WPT, who has been such an instrumental part of my poker journey.”

According to the WPTE, Esfandiari will leverage his experience to provide poker tips, tools, and tricks for fans and players, while delivering updates and information from tournament stops via WPT live updates, web videos, and online blogs. He also will represent the WPT in tournaments and events around the world, including the upcoming WPT tournament at Casino Barcelona in May, which is the first of many regional events that the WPT will implement in various markets worldwide.

“Antonio embodies the excitement that has become the WPT journey,” said Lipscomb. ”This is the only sport in the history of televised sports that allows you to watch it, dream it, and be it. Now, WPT fans and poker enthusiasts can take the journey with Antonio as he leads the way for the next WPT Poker-Made Millionaire.”

Esfandiari, who many times has said he can’t believe what poker has given to him (not only millions of dollars, but also a TV show with Phil Laak, cameos in at least two movies, a gorgeous Las Vegas condo, and countless phone numbers from all kinds of beautiful women from all around the world), is perfect for this new role because of his attitude.

“If I can do, it,” he said. “Anyone can.”
