The Expekt.com Norwegian Poker Championships take place this year at poker super club Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham, England as a result of legislative difficulties in hosting a tournament where players play for money in Norway.
The Championship, now in its seventh year, will see up to 500 Norwegian players fly by chartered plane courtesy of the sponsor expect.com.
The eight-day long festival includes a variety of games including pot-limit Omaha and limit hold’em as well as the £500 no-limit hold’em main event. The organisers estimate the prize pool at £350,000 and the winner of the main event will also receive a World Series of Poker main event package.
The final table of the main event will be filmed for TV and the entire event will be covered on blogs and by live reports. There is also a documentary being made about this unusual partnership between England and Norway.
