Poker Stars Shooting the Moon with New SnG PromotionBattle of the Planets Now Taking Place |
|
PokerStars has launched a promotion targeting their players who can’t get enough of the sites sit-and-go tourneys. Battle of the Planets is the name of a multi-layered leader-board promotion that awards prizes to the top point earners in each of eight different divisions, based on buy-in amounts.
Each division is represented by names of planets, and they are, from lowest buy-ins to largest: Mercury ($1-$2.99), Mars ($3-$4.99), Venus ($5-5.99), Earth ($10-$19.99), Neptune ($20-$49.99), Uranus ($50-$99.99), Saturn ($100-$299) and Jupiter ($300 and higher). Each division has weekly prize pools of $3,000-$10,000, depending on the size of the planet. Also, a $50,000 freeroll will be held for the top 10 leaders in each of the divisions.
Within each division there are really two races for the bonus dollars. It works this way: Each division has a “low orbit” and a “high orbit” leader board. The “low orbit” leader board will be made up of players who play between one and 100 sit-and-gos a week. Players receive points for the tournaments they play in a block of up to 20 (only the first five blocks will be considered).
For example, when a player plays 20 or fewer tournaments in a week, whatever number of points he earned for those tourneys would be his score for the week. If he played 40 tournaments in that same week, that means that he played two blocks of 20 tourneys (1-20 and 21-40). Only the best block-score of the two blocks (in this case) counts toward the leader board. The “high orbit” race works the same way, except that the blocks are of up to 100 tourneys each.
Players receive points when they cash in sit-and-gos with six to 27 players. The week starts at 12 a.m. ET on Sunday and runs until 11:59 p.m. ET the next Saturday.
Then, as the cherry on top of this Solar-system sundae, the top-10 point leaders in each division and subdivision will play for $50,000 in prizes in a triple shootout.
