Vanessa Selbst Enters Televised Final Table With Chip Lead

Vanessa SelbstThe $1,500 buy-in World Poker Tour Ladies Championship started with 150 entrants but is now down to six players with Vanessa Selbst as chip leader.

At the end of day 2, Karina Jett was eliminated on the televised final table bubble in seventh place and play ended for the night. Selbst finished both day 1 and day 2 as chip leader and is also coming off a recent women’s only tournament win from an L.A. Poker Classic preliminary event. Las Vegas ladies Nancy Todd Tyner and Donna Varlotto are in second and third chip position respectively.

Coming in fourth in chips is Van Tuyet Nguyen, wife of poker pro Men Nguyen. Last month at the WPT Celebrity Invitational at the Commerce Casino, Nguyen became the first woman to win a title in a non-ladies only event, outlasting 445 players. Rounding out the table is Janice Kim of Corte Madera, California and theVan Nguyen short stack Cindy Kerslake of Calgary, Canada.

A champion will not be crowned until April 25, when the final table is taped for air on August 18 on GSN at 9 p.m. ET. First place will receive nearly $67,000 and a coveted WPT title. Since 15 percent of the $1,500 buy-in was withheld, $33,750 was set aside to be donated Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists.
