At CakePoker, players can earn gold chips for Frequent Player Points (FPP) that can be used to buy prizes or buy into weekly tournaments.

FPPs are earned by competing in cash games or real-money tournaments. As players earn more FPPs, their Gold Chip Meter will begin to fill up. One gold chip is earned once the meter is full, which takes 120 FPP. Players can redeem the chip in a Weekly Gold Chip Giveaway tournament or a Weekly Chip Buy-in Giveaway tournament. The games in these tournaments vary from week to week and can be anything from hold'em to Omaha. Since the gold chips do not expire, players who prefer not to play one week can save it and continue collecting. Players can also redeem chips at the CakePoker store.

After accumulating 120 FPPs, one chip is awarded, and the official Gold Chip meter is shortened. This means that even fewer FPP points are required to earn a second chip (115 FPP). The meter continues to shrink for each chip earned in a calendar month until players reach five (third gold chip, 110 FPP; fourth, 90 FPP; fifth, 70 FPP). Once the fifth chip is earned, the player is awarded an extra chip and can continue earning chips for only 70 FPP. The Gold Chip Meter resets every calendar month.

Players can take advantage of a special CakePoker deposit bonus on Card Player.
