Casper Hansen Wins WPT Spanish Championship

Card Player Brazil Columnist Thiago Nishijima Finished Third

Casper Hansen is the winner of the World Poker Tour Spanish Championship, which wrapped up last night. He’s $655,720 richer for his effort. The runner-up in the event was Stefan Mattsson, who won $346,621 and now has more than $800,000 in lifetime poker tournament winnings.

The event, which won’t be televised, saw 253 entrants from around the world show up in Barcelona with €5,000 to try for a WPT title. The prize pool was $1.99 million.

Card Player Brazil columnist Thiago Nishijima finished third in this event, which was good for $176,934. The rest of the final table fared as follows:

4th — Andres Vidal — $137,703

5th — Guy Sitbon — $118,166

6th — Martin Lundenius — $98,157
