PokerStars Sunday Million
The PokerStars Sunday Million had 6,993 entrants last night, up a bit from last weekend’s 6,745 entrants. The total prize pool came to $1,398,600, which meant the winner could count on a more than $197,000 payday if no deal was made at the final table.
When it got down heads-up play in the event, a deal still hadn’t been made, and JHBrenes and jotaele1 played out the final elimination with almost $100,000 on the line as the pay difference between first and second place. JHBrenes became that final elimination as jotaele1 scooped the last pot of the tournament.
The final results were:
Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee
Full Tilt’s $750,000-guaranteed tournament lured just 3,603 entrants, which was higher than the attendance the previous two weeks but was still the sixth week in a row that the tournament required an overlay. This week’s overlay came to $29,400.
Robbieoz and KGtheACE both outlasted 3,601 other players to vye for the top prize. Robbieoz followed through to become the last man standing to collect the $132,788 top prize.
The final results were:
UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee
Attendance at the UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed event went from last week’s relatively low 775 entrants to a three-month high of 967 last night. UltimateBet had to plunk down a paltry $6,600 to match its $200,000 guarantee.
As is often the case in this tournament, the final table featured more than its chare of Internet poker notables (see the results below). When it came down to the final two, it was Markus “LURPED” Gonsalves versus hookemhornsny. Gonsalves, a pro who made the final table of the 2006 European Poker Tour Scandinavian Open and the top 50 of last year’s World Series of Poker main event, took out his final opponent to earn the $45,000 first-place prize.
The final results were:
Bodog $100,000 Guarantee
The Bodog $100,000 guarantee had fewer than 700 entrants again this week when 698 players bought into the event. That left $30,200 for Bodog to pick up, more than the first-place prize.
When it came down to the final two, it was two veterans, Aaron “ImTheJackal” Hacker and Al “alcarmo” Carmo, vying for the top prize. This is the sixth time in a year that ImTheJackal has made the final table of this event, and alcarmo made a good showing in the inaugural Bodog Poker Open, making three final tables (out of six events). Ultimately, it was ImTheJackal with all of the chips at the end, marking his second-ever win in the event.
