Asian Poker Tour Philippines Crowns David Saab Champ

Korean-Born Australian Wins $280,000 Top Prize At First Stop On 2008 Asian Poker Tour; European Comes Fifth

David Saab, a Korean-born Australian, has won the first event in the 2008 Asian Poker Tour in Manila, The Philippines topping a field of 316 players. He won $280,000 for his victory over Korean Chris Roh who collected $150,000.

In the final hand of the event Saab, who started the final table as chip leader, re-raised all-in on a flop of A-7-4 and was called by Roh. Saab was ahead with A-8 and Roh needed help with his K-4. The turn and rive came 9 and 10 and Saab secured a hard fought victory.

Satoru Ishii from Japan came third for $100,000 while Italian Michele Ferrari finished fifth for $55,000.

The next stop on the increasingly popular tour is Macau from Aug. 26 to 31, 2008 where up to 500 players are expected to attend.
