PokerStars Sunday Million

The new $1.5 million guarantee for the PokerStars Sunday Million kicked off last night, and 8,431 entrants bought in for the event, generating a prize pool of $1,686,200. That left more than $204,000 for the first-place finisher if no deal was made at the final table.

After 8,429 other players had been sent railward, it was Fred_Brink versus betofetus left gunning for the top prize. The final table had run down without a deal having been made, and the final two players wound up playing for the full payouts. As a result, only the two heads-up players left the table with six-figure paydays, and there was an almost $70,000 prize difference between first and second place. Fred_Brink eventually reaped the benefits of avoiding a deal when he took down the final pot to win the $204,199 first-place prize.

The final results were:

  1. Fred_Brink — $204,199
  2. betofetus — $137,425

It came down to HosniMubarak and CountTilt for the title in the event. There was more than $50,000 on the line in the heads-up match, and only the first-place finisher would leave the table with a six-figure payday.
