David “dpeters17” Peters, a young professional poker player from Toledo, Ohio, is the winner of the most recent Heartland Poker Tour event, which was held at Soaring Eagle Casino in Michigan and concluded Monday.
Peters outlasted the 300 other players who played in the $1,500 main event, earning $130,178.
More than 900 players tried to qualify in the weeks leading up to the main event through satellites held at the casino, and the 301 entrants who generated a prize pool of $436,926 mostly came from the area.

This cash brings Peters’ live tournament winnings total to just under $450,000, and he has well over $500,000 in Online Player of the Year-qualified cashes. He spoke to Card Player in May.
The next HPT event is the Grand Series at Grand Casino Miles Lac in Minnesota, which takes place Sept. 15-21.
