PPA to host a charity poker tournament at the RNCDespite a turbulent history between the Republican Party and online gambling supporters, the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) has reached out and partnered with the American Gaming Association (AGA) to host a charity poker tournament at the Republican National Convention next week in an effort to raise money for the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

The RNC is taking place Sept. 1-4 at the Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The tournament will be held on Sept. 3 at 116 First Ave. North and will begin after a VIP reception starting at 10 p.m. The only way to gain an entry into the event is by purchasing a sponsorship package. The following are levels available:

  • $10,000 Royal Flush Sponsor: Eight tournament entries and four spectator seats
  • $5,000 Full House Sponsor: Four tournament entries and two spectator seats
  • $1,000 Individual Player Seat: One tournament entry
  • $250 Individual Spectator Seat: One spectator seat

*Donations are fully tax deductable.

All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Paralyzed Veterans of America, an organization that works veterans who have acquired spinal cord injury and diseases. The PPA and AGA ran a charity tournament for the Paralyzed Veterans of America at yesterday’s Democratic Convention. The event was successful in raising $60,000 for the cause, and Oscar winner Ben Affleck was the last player standing.
