Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Returns HomePlay Heats Up in the GUKPT with Main Event Kicking Off in Bolton on Thursday |
|
BlueSquarePoker.com Grosvenor UK Poker Tour has returned to its roots at the Grosvenor Casino in Bolton. This was where the very first GUKPT event was hosted in January 2007.
It was in this casino that Praz Bansi from London beat 196 players to go head-to-head with his good friend Karl Mahrenholz. But all is fair in love and poker, and Bansi finished him off too, to take down the top prize.
This year’s story is yet to be written, but with a long list of events running throughout this week, it is sure to be as interesting. The main event will kick off this Thursday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m., and run for four days.
GUKPT sponsor Blue Square has spiced things up by opening a betting market based on who will top the Tour’s leader board when it is all over.
With odds at 3/1 are the current leader board toppers — three-time finalist Nik Persaud and Manchester main event winner Marc Goodwin. Julian Thew is next with a 6/1 shot, and other favourites include Jeff Kimber at 7/1, and recent Luton winner Sam Trickett at 10/1.
The Tour has a ranking system which awards points to the winning nine in side events, and 18 in main events, with £30,000 in prizes on offer for the top 18 finishers.
The player who tops the final leader board will receive £10,000 and the title of GUKPT Player of the Year.
