PokerStars Sunday Million
It was another weekend of overlays for the flagship events at most major sites, and PokerStars was no exception. The site’s Sunday Million tournament had 7,307 entrants last night at $200 an entry, meaning that PokerStars had to put up $38,600 to match the $1.5 million guarantee. Considering the site made a total of almost $110,000 from the $15 fee tacked onto each buy-in, it’s safe to assume that PokerStars wasn’t sweating the overlay too much.
The last man standing in the event stood to earn $184,500 if no deal were made at the final table. When it got down to heads-up play between govshark2 and princio, no deal had been made, and almost $60,000 was on the line as the pay difference between first and second place. Govshark2 wound up with all of the chips at the end to take down the full first-place prize.
The final results were:
Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee
The Full Tilt $750,000-guaranteed event also had an overlay last night when 3,450 entrants bought in. That attendance number left Full Tilt needing to cover the $60,000 missing from the prize pool to match the $750,000 guarantee, which was more than the third-place finisher would earn in the event.
And that third-place finisher was going to be Matt “NoBadBeatsPlz” Kay (pictured at left), DahJinerat, or Wasaki coke as the last three players remaining in the event. NoBadBeatsPlz, the runner-up in the 2007 Online Player of the Year race, ultimately fell in third place, earning $52,500. It was then heads up between Wasaki coke and DahJinerat. DahJinerat eliminated his final opponent to snag the $133,000 top prize in the event.
The final results were:
UltimateBet $200,000 Guarrantee
An overlay is pretty much assumed for the UltimateBet $200,000 guarantee, and last night’s event didn’t dissapoint. The tournament had 831 entrants, meaning UltimateBet put $33,800 into the prize pool out of pocket. That field is on par with the event’s recent numbers (and exactly as many entrants as the event had last weekend).
The final table was full of named played (see the results below), which isn’t much of a surprise for this event, which is normally pretty stacked. The heads-up battle came down to Jay “EMO_BOYFRIEND” Kinkade and ibraindead, and they were fighting for a first-place payday of $45,000 (and $18,000 difference from second place). Kinkade eventually hit the rail as runner-up, and ibraindead raked in the final pot and the lion’s share of the prize pool.
The final results were:
Bodog $100,000 Guarantee
The Bodog $100,000-guaranteed event was back for the first time since the conclusion of the Bodog Poker Open II main event. It restarted almost exactly where it left off when 621 entrants bought in (620 had bought in the week before the BPO II). As usual, that left a large percentage of the prize pool needing to be overlayed by the site, and Bodog forked over $37,900 to match the $100,000 guarantee. That’s more than both the first- and second-place prizes combined, and it meant that each entrant was getting the equivalent of a $161 buy-in tournament for their $100 buy-in. Considering nearly 15 percent of the entrants got paid in the event, a lot of people left the tournament happy.
The happiest players were, of course, the two who would up duking it out for the top prizes. Nutzkrackr went mano a mano with links1136 for the two biggest paydays. Nutzkrackr ultimately bested his final foe to snag the $23,600 first-place prize.
