Harrah's Rincon Again to Host an Event

Harrah's, which owns the rights to the World Series of Poker, announced that a WSOP Circuit event will take place at Harrah's Rincon in Valley Center, California, from Feb. 26 to March 7 of next year. A WSOP Circuit event that took place earlier this year at Rincon attracted 1,834 entrants for all its contests.

This brings the number of WSOP Circuit events for the 2005-06 season, which started in August, to 13. That includes the Tournament of Champions $2 million freeroll that will be held right before the start of the WSOP at the Rio in Las Vegas.

Each WSOP Circuit event consists of a series of tournaments with entry fees that start in the hundreds of dollars. The winner of the $10,000 buy-in championship event held at each venue wins a free entry into the Tournament of Champions.

The schedule for remaining tournaments is:

  • Caesars Indiana, Oct. 19-Nov. 2
  • Paris/Bally's Las Vegas, Nov. 9-22
  • Showboat Atlantic City, Nov. 28-Dec. 9
  • Grand Casino Tunica, Jan. 5-26
  • Harrah's Atlantic City, Feb. 7-17
  • Harrah's Rincon, Feb. 26-March 7
  • Caesars Atlantic City, March 21-31
  • Caesars Palace Las Vegas, April 3-14
  • Harrah's New Orleans, May 18-28
  • Harrah's Lake Tahoe, June 6-16
  • 2006 TOC at Rio, June 28-29
WSOP Circuit events have already taken place at the Grand Casino in Tunica and Harrah's Las Vegas. Gregg Merkow won the main event in Tunica and Chris "Jesus" Ferguson won the bracelet in Las Vegas.

Harrah's was forced to cancel a WSOP Circuit event that was scheduled to take place in September at the Grand Casino in Biloxi after Hurricane Katrina damaged the casino.
