A report published today by Juniper Research claims the mobile gambling market will see wagers worth $27.5 billion being place each year by 2013. Gross win for operators is likely to be in the order of $3.4 billion.
The sector is undergoing “a sea-change in operator attitudes towards mobile gambling services, improvements to handset user interfaces and the gradual introduction of legislation permitting remote gambling in selected markets,” according to the report.
Author Dr Windsor Holden, said "Operators are demonstrably much more open to the idea of mobile gambling than they were even 12-18 months ago, both in terms of offering gambling services on-portal and accepting advertising from gambling companies."
Most of the wagering will be on sports but lottery services will experience the highest adoption level among consumers. The report says commercial deployment in the U.S. markets will be delayed until at least 2010.
