Online Poker -- bigdogpckt5s Wins FTOPS Sunday EventTherookieQQ9 Takes Down PokerStars Sunday Million |

With the Full Tilt Online Poker Series X (FTOPS X) in full swing, it was a big night for online poker. While many players had huge nights, arguably no one’s was bigger than Steve “gboro780” Gross (pictured at left), who made the final table of three major events, two of which he took down (see his results). Gross’ total winnings for the night came to nearly $130,000, and he also earned 1,440 in Online Player of the Year points for his scores (as much as a win in the PokerStars Sunday Million), which pushed him into second place in the race. Also noteworthy was Keven “Stammdogg” Stammen’s fourth place finish in the FTOPS X event recapped below. His finish ammounted to his second final table in a flagship Sunday event in as many weeks (he made the final table of the Sunday Million last week).

Full Tilt Online Poker Series X: Event No. 9 $1.5 Million-Guaranteed No-Limit Hold’em
The biggest event so far in the FTOPS X was held last night. The event was a $300 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament with a $1.5 million guarantee. It lured 5,370 entrants, making for a prize pool of $1,611,000. The winner of the event would take home the largest payday of the night for online tournament poker.
That payday was $278,000, and Casey “bigdogpckt5s” Jarzabek and xTheory became the last two players in line for the first-place prize after outlasting the huge field and a stacked final table (see the results below). With more than $100,000 on the line as the difference between the first- and second-place payouts, bigdogpckt5s wound up raking in the final pot of the tournament to take the title and the huge prize.
The final results were:
PokerStars Sunday Million
The PokerStars Sunday Million avoided an overlay again last night when 7,711 entrants bought in, generating a prize pool of $1,542,200. That prize pool left $189,000 for the first-place finisher should no deal be made at the final table.
And no deal was made at the final two players faced off for the top prize. Jonathan “TherookieQQ9” Plens went up against noted Internet player RunThisTable in the final match. Nearly $62,000 was on the line as the difference in paydays, and TherookieQQ9 went on to remove his green status when he eliminated his final opponent to take down the event. RunThis Table earned $127,000 as the runner-up.
The final results were:
UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee
The UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed event had 880 entrants last night, the most the event has had since July 27 (when it had 944). Nevertheless, the tournament required an overlay of $24,000 to match the posted guarantee.
Three-handed play came down to Peter “Apathy123” Jetten (pictured at right), -HH7-, and kjmcolo. Jetten was the first of the three to hit the rail, banking $18,500 for third place. It then came down to heads up betweem -HH7- and kjmcolo. -HH7- had finished in fifth place in this event before (Aug. 17), and he was looking to finish what he started this time. He did just that when he outlasted his final foe to earn $45,000 for first place. Kjmcolo made $27,000 for second place.
The final results were:
Bodog $100,000 Guarantee
Bodog’s $100,000-guaranteed tournament had 720 entrants last night, keeping attendance in the 700s, but slightly lower than last weekend’s 750 entrants. The site came out of pocket for $28,000 to match the $100,000 guarantee.
The final two players in the event were improved and maberle. They were playing for a $10,000 difference in prizes, each gunning for the $23,600 first-place payday. Maberle earned that extra $10,000 as the last player standing in the event, and improved snagged a still-respectable $13,600 for second.
