CryptoLogic, the publicly-quoted online gaming software provider, announced today it had entered into a strategic partnership with Boss Media which will see its poker customers merged with Boss’ International Poker Network (IPN) and expected savings of $12-15 million.
The move comes in the aftermath of CryptoLogic’s recent announcement that its strategic focus would shift to casino gaming. Earlier reports suggested the company was in talks with a major online poker room. The move, which will affect online poker rooms such as InterPoker and Parbet, is planned for early 2009. CryptoLogic will continue to provide back-office services.
CryptoLogic president and CEO said, “CryptoLogic's aggressive action on its new strategy, as witnessed in several recent announcements - and our new agreement with Boss Media, is a major step in our journey back to growth, profitability and returning shareholder value.
“This partnership provides our poker customers with access to one of the largest poker networks in the world, while helping CryptoLogic reduce costs substantially. Also, it will allow us to focus on the continued development and licensing of the Internet's most innovative casino games, and to leverage our lead in branded content games in partnership with the world's top entertainment brands.”
The move is indicative of increased consolidation within the online poker industry.
