In recent years, the popularity of poker has been used by advertisers to sale everything from deodorant to beer, and now Mayer Labs put another notch on -- or more appropriately, below -- that belt.

A commercial advertising the company's Kimono brand of condoms that has a beautiful woman using a wrapped condom as her last poker chip will begin to air in the United States Oct. 7.

It's already airing in Canada, where the response has been good, says Carolyn Murphy of CDA Strategies, who developed the concept for Mayer Labs.

"We already got fan mail from the viewers in Canada," Murphy said.

The unspoken innuendo of the commercial can't be missed.

Down to her last chip, the women is head-ups against an opponent with a huge stack. She bets her last chip and her handsome opponent sitting directly across her raises her a chip. With no chips left, she pushes a Kimono brand condom into the pot.

The man, of course, immediately pushes his big stack all-in, and that's when a screen showing a few packs of condoms and the tag line "When the Stakes are High" appears.

Murphy said Mayer Labs wanted to use a poker theme to sell it's product.

"I think they were aware that poker was kind of a new fad and people are really into it," she said.

The commercial will air for at least a month on the Oxygen Network and VH1 and in the selected cities of Washington, D.C., Boston and New York.
