PartyPoker Premier League First Day Heats ResultsJC Tran and Tony G Come Up Trumps in First Premier League Heats |

The winner of the first PartyPoker.com Premier League Heat was Asian Poker Tour ambassador J.C. Tran. Tran, who is representing PKR for the event, beat newly crowned World Series champion Peter Eastgate heads up to take the maximum of 10 points. Eastgate began the heads up battle with almost 200,000 more chips than Tran but after some highs and lows, the final hand saw Eastgate go all in with Q-3 followed by an insta-call by Tran with A-K. The board brought no action and Tran became $20,000 richer.
Other opponents he had to pass to get to the finish line were Dave “The Devilfish” Ulliott, Annette Obrestad, Roland De Wolfe, and Premier League II champ Andy Black.
Tran said, “It has been a fantastic start but there is a long way to go. It is so good to get the first win under the belt. I love the format of the Premier League and am excited about what is going to come.”
Tom Hall, CEO of Asian Logic, owners of the Asian Poker Tour said, “We’re all delighted for JC. There was a lot of hype about Peter Eastgate’s first appearance after his big $9 million WSOP win and JC did the Asian Poker Tour and the Poker Pack proud with a fantastic performance.”
The next heat saw Tom "Durrr" Dwan absolutely demolish his table, but he fell at the final hurdle when he came heads up with Tony G. The final hand of the heat saw Dwan's pocket eights smashed by Tony G's J-10.
Matchroom Sport devised a unique tournament format, which sees 12 players play six times in the league before the top four progress to the final table, and the four runners-up will then play heads up for the remaining two places. Other exciting players taking part include Phil Hellmuth, Tom Dwan, Nenad Medic, Tony G, Vicky Coren, and Juha Helppi.
