Legendary U.S. talk show host and poker lover Montel Williams is developing a new TV show — International Team Poker League — which will be broadcast around the globe from November 2009.
The new format will be a mixture of poker and reality TV show and satellites are set to begin in March 2009 though no details are yet available on where online players can take a shot at winning seats on the show.
The format will take both live and online satellite winners who then try to win entry into the Draft Pool Seeding Tournament in Las Vegas where players will then be organized into six teams. These teams then battle it out for the one-day SuperTable event where the six winners will become the ITPL Team for a season as they travel the globe playing in tournaments and enjoying the high roller lifestyle.
Williams, who last year played in the Poker Nations Cup for Team U.S. said, “I love poker – it’s a game that has everything, played by kings and leaders and regular joes alike. It crosses boundaries and borders, now, thanks to technology and the internet, a global phenomenon that brings people of different ethnicities and origin together around the world.”
The show is currently developing strategic partnerships with poker brands around the world with a number of high profile brands expected to take part.
