The Canadian Poker Tour today announced details of the Canadian Open Championships which will take place at the Stampede Casino in Calgary, Alberta from May 13 to 17, 2009.
The centerpiece of the five event festival will be the heads up main event with a buy in of $5,000 where 128 players will play best of three matches.
The festival will also see a two $550 no-limit hold’em events, a $200 pot-limit Omaha rebuy event and $1,100 no-limit hold’em event. The estimated prize pool for the five events is $1 million.
Last year the event attracted pros such as Jennifer Tilly, Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, Gavin Smith, Brad Booth, and winner Huckleberry Seed while Joe Hachem said, "If only the NBC Invitational or World Series of Poker formats were half this good."
Richard Webb recently won the Canadian Poker Tour event at the Ocean World Resort and Casino in the Dominican Republic.
