A new online site is offering perhaps the best kind of return on poker dollars, a stake in the company.

PokerShare.com is a poker site that lets players earn company equity while they play. When people play at PokerShare.com, they not only earn "points" that can be used to buy clothes or freeroll into tournaments. For each point players earn, they also receive a "Share Point" that entitles players to a piece of the company's profits.

At the end of each quarter, which ends every three months, PokerShare.com will hand out 40 percent of its profits to its players via Share Points. People automatically earn Share Points simply for signing up to PokerShare.com and also by playing on the site.

Players receive one Share Point for each hour they play a ring game, six Share Points for each dollar in tournament entry fees, and Share Points for each cash pot they contribute to.

The appropriately named company Playit Ownit Limited, based in Gibraltar, owns 60 percent of the company. The remaining 40 percent is owned by the Poker Share Trust, which exists for the benefit of the players.

The company hopes to accomplish three things with the Poker Share Trust: preserve the shareholding interest of the players, encourage and foster new player enrollment, and distribute funds to the players.

And if the site every decides to go public, players with Share Points will also cash in on the sale.

Players must have played on PokerShare.com during the three-month period prior to profit distribution. If players do not play in that quarter, their awards will be lost for that quarter only.

PokerShare.com teamed up with UltimateBet.com for its software and interface. PokerShare.com is licensed through the Kahnawake Gaming Commission and the software is licensed by the same company that licenses UltimateBet.com, eWorld Holdings.

Players with an UltimateBet.com account can play on PokerShare.com, but to cash in on the Poker Share points a new account will have to be made through PokerShare.com.

Right now, the site is offering quite a few promotions, including a 100 percent return on all first deposits, up to $250. It's also giving away 10 seats to the World Poker Tour's LA Poker Classic that's scheduled to take place in February. The first 10 players to 75,000 Share Points get seats.

Also, the site has a Random Rewards promotion, which works like a lottery. At the end of each month, the site randomly selects players to win prizes from the site.

It also offers an easy-to-use forum where players can share information, gripe about bad beats, and talk about the promotions.
