Poker to Draw Drinkers Back to Pubs in UKMassive Fosters Promotion Hopes "Game On" will Draw Drinkers Back |

Scottish & Newcasle brewery hopes to bring more men back to pubs with its largest ever Foster’s beer promotion, Game On, according to industry newspaper, The Publican.
Game On will be rolled out at about 10,000 UK venues and will see landlords and managers receive free equipment to run poker events.
The report says the promotion is aimed at leveraging men’s love of games and to encourage them to go to the pub more on week nights and to stay there for longer. Pubs have been experiencing a downturn of custom in recent years as a result of the smoking ban, the recession, and an increased tendency for people to drink at home.
It quotes Foster’s marketing manager Gayle Harrison as saying,: “Game On, the biggest and widest-reaching promotion ever run by Foster’s, will help licensees cash in on the popularity of a variety of pub games by appealing to a wide range of customers and encouraging them to visit and revisit the pub on a night they would normally stay at home. More significantly, its benefits should last beyond the course of the promotion and encourage new and lapsed drinkers to reappraise the pub as a great place to meet and socialise with their mates.”
The multi-million pound promotion will be supported by an advertising campaign on TV, radio and online advertising.
In recent times a number of pub poker leagues have sprung up around the UK.
