The Boylepoker.com Poker for the Homeless March Madness festival took place over the weekend just gone in the Jackpot Club in Dublin and was a massive success.

The festival raised €10,000 for Dublin Simon, which added to the money raised over the past three years for Irish homeless charities, amounts to more than €150,000.Rosanna Davison, Eamon Dunphy, and Ken Doherty at the Poker for the Homeless Event

Celebrities also did their bit, with former Miss World Rosanna Davison, legendary broadcaster and journalist Eamon Dunphy, and snooker champ Ken Doherty launching the festival (pictured right).

Friday saw the first event, a €100 + €10 no-limit hold’em freezeout, where all registration fees and 20 percent of the prize pool went to the charity. Damien Balfe received the top prize, taking home €2,200 for his efforts.

Boylepoker.com continued its streak of success when a team made up of organisers Paul Spillane, Lisa Condon, and Ciaran Corbett, plus secret weapon Multiplier Challenger Peter Murphy won the team event on the Sunday. They also found their new sponsored pro, Noel Magner, via the Boylepoker.com Be Our Sponsored Pro event on Saturday evening.

The team event was staggeringly popular, with maximum capacity stretched to its limit. There were teams of Irish pros, local poker faces, media teams, and also just groups of people who wanted a good day out in aid of a great cause. Card Player was among those priviliged to take part in the weekend and also made it to the final table of the team event.

Padraig Parkinson, ambassador for Poker for the Homeless, said, “It’s fantastic to see such great support for this weekend as it continues to grow and we’d like to thank everyone who played and helped organise the weekend including the Jackpot Club without whose help none of it could have happened. Special thanks to the well-known faces who helped launch the event and well done to Team Boylepoker who not only got lucky sponsoring the festival but also winning the final event!”
