SCOOP Day 11 -- Benny 'toweliestar' Spindler Wins $25K Heads-Up$10,000 Main Event Under Way, $963,338 to First Place |

The PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) events are about to conclude. The SCOOP is a 22-tournament series spread out over 12 days of action. Each tournament is offered with three different sets of buy-ins ranging from low, to mid, to high stakes. Buy-ins are offered for as little as $5.50 and can be as high as $25,500.
Event No. 21 -- Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em
The penultimate day of the inaugural SCOOP series began with the heads-up no-limit hold'em championship. The low-stakes tournament offered up a relatively high $250 buy-in and attracted a massive field of 1,550. Card Player Online Player of the Year candidate Thayer "THAY3R" Rasmussen (pictured above left) finished in a tie for third place, just missing out on the final match which took place between blakeb0921 and Jakivi. The eventual winner was blakeb0921, and he was rewarded with $65,875.
The mid-stakes tournament stepped it up a bit and drew a field of 256 players willing to put up the $2,500 buy-in. RunThisTable ran quite a few tables on his way to the $172,800 first-place prize. He beat 4pils&1pizza for the title.
Not surprisingly, the high-stakes $25,000 buy-in tournament only generated a sicko field of 32 degenerates. Only four players made the money, including Alex "mistakooll" Keating (tie for third), Dokosoko (tie for third), EPT founder John Duthie (second), and Benny "toweliestar" Spindler (first).
Spindler (pictured right), who currently sits in seventh place in the Player of the Year rankings for his third-place finish at the EPT PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, was awarded $360,000 for the win.
Event No. 22 -- Two-Day No-Limit Hold'em Main Event
The Sunday Million was once again put on hold this week in favor of the two-day SCOOP main event. Each of the three tournaments drew in massive fields for their buy-ins and crushed their guarantees, creating huge prize pools.
The low-stakes, $100 buy-in tournament had 18,747 entrants, and as of right now, there are only 26 remaining. The action will resume tonight at 4:30 p.m. EST, and the winner will take home $187,470.
A total of 19 players are still alive in the $1,000 buy-in, mid-stakes tournament. Notables still in contention include Eric "Ericb09" Blair (second), James "jcamby33" Campbell (third), and J.C. Alvarado (eighth). The winner will pocket $502,086.
The high-stakes, $10,000 buy-in actually had a more successful turnout than the recent World Poker Tour Foxwoods stop and attracted a very strong field of 502 players. There are still 14 players left in the hunt for the top prize of $963,338. Still in contention are OPOY candidates Jonathan "xxjondxx" Delong (first) and Chris "Moorman1" Moorman (sixth). Joining them are notables Jon "PearlJammer" Turner (second, pictured left), Jamie "pokerjamers" Armstrong (ninth), and Jesse "MazeOrBowie" Martin (13th).
