Bwin, the Viennese-quote online gaming operator, today reported gross online poker revenue for the full year 2008 up 14.2 percent to €94.2 million, up from €82.5 million in 2007.
Net gaming revenues (when costs were deducted) for poker saw a 8.6 percent jump in 2008 to €81.0 million from a year earlier.
The company said it had up to 45,000 players at the tables simultaneously at peak times.
In the fourth quarter of 2008, gross poker revenue was up 21.7 percent to €27.7 million compared to the fourth quarter of 2007 when it was €21.8 million).
The company recently migrated one of the oldest existing online poker sites, PokerRoom.com, to the bwin brand and in October 2008 its Ongame network launched the P5 poker platform into the Italian market.
Gorss gaming revenues across all business units which include sports betting and casino, were up 19 percent to €420.9 million from €353.5 million in 2007 however the company recorded a loss after tax of €12.8 million was reported for 2008 compared to a profit of €50.4 million in 2007
The company is still embrolied in legal battles in Germany.
