California State Poker Championship Begins

Commerce Casino Hosts the 24 Events at this Tournament Series

Commerce CasinoThe California State Poker Championship is under way at Commerce Casino in Southern California. The tournament series will feature 24 events in all, including a $5,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em championship with a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million that begins on May 22. The series began with a $200 casino industry employees no-limit hold’em event on Apr. 30.

Games spread will include no-limit and limit hold’em, six-handed and heads-up no-limit hold’em, Omaha eight-or-better, H.O.R.S.E., seven-card stud, and seven-card stud eight-or-better. There will be one $200 no-limit hold’em event with multiple rebuys hosted on May, 9, with a $200,000-guaranteed prize pool. There will be nine events with guaranteed prize pools at the tournament series, and all but three events will have Card Player Player of the Year points up for grabs.

Note: Players will begin with 10,000 in chips and blinds begin at 25-50. Levels are 60 minutes long with a 15-minute break after every two levels. Levels at the final table will increase to 90 minutes in length.

Saturday, May 23: Day 2 – play down to final table or 10 levels
Sunday, May 24: Final day
