With the World Series of Poker on the horizon, players should know what routes there are out there in the cyber world, so that they too can make their way to that glittering city in the desert for the biggest poker festival of the year. Those who were considering perhaps giving it a miss this year due to tighter pockets or whatever reason, are most likely starting to feel the pangs of being left out. But there is no need to fear as most sites are still offering various ways to get players of even the lowest stakes to the city of sin this summer.
Full Tilt’s- Race to the Main Event sees daily freeroll tournaments running until Jun 21, where 100 players will win the sought-after seats. There are also 81-player $200 + $16 shootout tournaments running daily at 3.30 p.m. (E.T.) until Jun. 21, with one $12,000 main event prize package up for grabs per shootout. Players can satellite in for as little as $1 or 50 Full Tilt Points.
The site is also hosting a 150 Seat Main Event Guarantee at 6 p.m. on Jun. 21 where at least 150 $12,000 main event prize packages are guaranteed. The buy-in is $500 + $35 but players can also make their way there via various satellites starting from $1 or 50 Full Tilt Points. It will make no difference if players finish in first place or 150th, they will each get a package in this massive giveaway.
Not forgetting the 50 preliminary WSOP tournaments this year, players can win their buy-ins in Full Tilt’s Race for Bracelets tournaments which run on a daily basis. Buy-ins range from $24 + $2 to $69 + $6 and award at least one $2,000 package. Smaller buy-in or points satellites are also available for these events.
If a player is lucky enough to qualify at Full Tilt and then go on to take the main event down, he/she will also take home a $10 million bonus on top of their first place paycheck.
Another site rewarding qualifiers for their achievements in the main event this year is Everest Poker. The site is promising to match its qualifiers’ winnings in the main event up to $1 million and then share this amount evenly with all Everest qualifiers.
Everest Poker’s WSOP Steps are an exciting and affective way of getting to the Series without breaking the bank. The Steps start at just $3 or 750 Summit Points and throughout the various levels there is a seat in the final $1,500 side event on offer, with a main event ticket shining brightly at the very top.
Similar to this are the Pokerstars.com Steps Sit & Go satellites, which start from $7.50 or 500 FPP credits. Players who finish in the top two move on to the next level. All is not lost for those who don’t however, as they can still win entry to the same step or the one below. Step 6 is where players get a shot at the World Series package. Other ways to win a WSOP seat at PokerStars include cash satellites with a range of buy-ins, and FPP satellites where Frequent Player Points could eventually be turned into millions of dollars.
This Saturday at 8 p.m., PaddyPowerPoker.com is running a super satellite to the WSOP World Championship of Pot-Limit Omaha (Event 40). The $13,000 package includes the $10,000 event buy-in, five nights accommodation, registration fees, and $2,100 for flights and spending. The buy-in for the satellite is $500 + $35, but there are ongoing sit ‘n’ go satellites into the super satellite.
The site is also running a super satellite promotion to the World Championship No-Limit Hold’em tournament (event 57) with a package on offer worth $13,000 including the $10,000 buy-in, seven nights accommodation, registration fees, and $1,900 for flights and spending. This super satellite is currently ongoing, and takes place every Sunday at 7 p.m. until Jun. 14. The buy-in is $500 + $35, but players can satellite in also.
If free is what you’re looking for, then every Monday at 9.30 p.m. at LadbrokesPoker.com there is a freeroll where 10 players can win a seat into the Tuesday’s daily final at 7.30 p.m.. The site has also created the $5,000 Vegas Dream Package tempting players with a prize including accomodation for two at Caesars Palace Hotel, $2,000 in travel expenses, the $1,050 buy-in to the Vegas Dream Satellite (where the top 10 percent will win a $10,000 WSOP main event buy-in, but for those who don’t there are more satellite buy-ins), and finally tickets to exclusive events, coaching from pros, and Dream Team merchandise.
The site will also be running exclusive satellites for Vegas Dream Package holders to make up the $8,620 upgrade to a main event buy-in, hence ditching the Las Vegas satellites.
Boylepoker is running super satellites for packages to the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championsip event (worth $13,000) taking place every Sunday at 8 p.m. (BST). Players can buy in directly for $500 + $35 or take a chance in the site’s super satellites from as little as $3.
It is also offering a $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha World Championship package (again worth $13,000) in a super satellite this Saturday at 8 p.m. There are feeders into this satellite, or players can buy in directly for $500 + $35.
Time is running out at DevilfishPoker.com’s €175,000 Road to Las Vegas promotion, ending May 31. One package worth €7,000 including one week’s accommodation at the Wynn Hotel and Casino, €2,000 in expenses, and $5,000 for tournament buy-ins will be given to the top VIP point earner; one will be given to the May winner of the high stakes sit & go leader board; three packages will go in a special tournament open to all players that earn 2,000 VIP points during May; and two from freerolls and VIP freerolls.
Four more packages were added this month — one was given to the top VIP points earner and one given to the player with the most raked hands between May 1 and 15, but the same will be done for the player with the most points between May 16 and 30, and for the one with the most raked hands also.
Regular qualifiers are running at PartyPoker.com starting at only $2, including single-table tournaments and freerolls. Winners can choose between two amazingly dreamy prize packages on offer at the site. Its Million Dollar Rake Race is currently running until May 30, and sees the leader board’s top 3,000 players share more than $3 million, with the winner receiving $20,000 cash plus a WSOP package worth $20,000.
And finally, PKR.com is another place to be when trying out for the WSOP, whatever the budget. Players can buy in to stage 1’s daily sit & go qualifiers for just $0.35, then take on daily stage 2 MTT freezeouts for $14.60. Moving on to, or perhaps jumping in at, stage 3 for $66.50 + $6.50, where 1 in 10 players will get to the next stage every Friday at 8.45 p.m. (GMT) until Jun 12. Or just cut to the good stuff and choose the direct buy-in to the PKR Main Event Final for $625 taking place every other Monday at 7.35 p.m. until Jun. 15.
If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, what will?
