The winner of the fourth PartyPoker.com Sports Stars Challenge is online qualifier Jason Brennan. The 34-year-old Londoner took home £27,000 after winning his heat with the darts stars and then turning his attention to the final table. The other finalists were Henry Paul, Thomas Helmer, Dave McAuley, Jean Van de Velde, and two other online qualifiers Scott O’Reilly and Paresh Patel.

Brennan, an unemployed road builder came through 140,000 wannabe Sports Stars challengers in various online freerolls to take his place in the competition. His ultimate obstacle was Irish boxing legend, Dave “Boy” McAuley. The two were the last players standing at the final table, and the key hand saw McAuley raise to 800 with KHeart Suit10Heart Suit and Brennan make his move all in with AHeart Suit3Heart Suit. The board didn’t bring any action for anyone and the ace-high sealed the deal.

Brennan said, “I’m completely stunned, this is a dream. Not only did I get to play poker with many of my sporting heroes, I also managed to win and qualifying did not cost me a penny! It means so much to me. I am currently out of work and the money couldn’t have come at a better time.”

The event will be aired in the UK later this year on Sky Sports, and afterwards, distributed internationally.

Recent Irish Open runner-up Kara Scott was the champion of Sports Stars Challenge III, beating former Manchester United defender Norman Whiteside heads up in the final. There was no presenter heat in the challenge this year.
