The sixth season of the PokerStars European Poker Tour begins tomorrow in Kiev, Ukraine, when cards get into the air in the €5,000 no-limit hold’em main event. The tournament will begin at noon EEST (2 a.m. PST). Kiev stepped in to host the first tournament during season six of the EPT after the event in Moscow, Russia was canceled due to a political ruling that closed all casinos in the country. The event will now take place at the Kiev Sports Palace, and it will be held under the regulation of the Ukrainian Ministry of Youth, Family, and Sport. Many Team PokerStars pros are expected to be in action, including EPT all-time leading point winner Bertrand Grospellier.
The tournament will use the new EPT structure that will be standard at each event during season six. Players will begin with 30,000 in tournament chips and levels will last 60 minutes during day 1. Levels will increase to 75 minutes in length beginning on day 2 for each event. Blinds will begin at 50-100 and then advance through the full tournament structure.
The tournament will be decided during five days of tournament play. Day-1 flights will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 18 and Wednesday, Aug. 19. The final table will take place on Sunday, Aug. 23. The EPT Kiev stop will also include a €20,000 no-limit hold’em high-roller event that begins on Friday, Aug. 21.
