Online poker room operators bwin and PKR yesterday announced they had entered significant business deals which will diversify their product offerings.
Austrian bookmaker bwin acquired a majority share in UnitedGames, one of Europe’s leading massive multiplayer online game (MMOG) developers and publishers.
Manfred Bodner, Co-CEO of bwin said, “United Games brings a lot of interesting technology and know-how to the relationship and we look forward to taking online gaming to the next stage of evolution.”
The acquisition will allow bwin to develop new lines of business and bolsters the leadership of UnitedGames in online game publishing and development.
bwin also recently agreed to purchase Italian online poker operator Gioco Digitale.
Meanwhile PKR.com, the next generation online poker room announced it was launching an online sportsbook having inked a deal with Global Betting Exchange to use its iBroker system.
iBroker software automates all aspects of its sportsbook management from the creation and pricing of events right through to settlement.
The software will also provide PKR with automated risk management and dynamic hedging services.
