Station Casinos Named One of the Best Places in U.S. to Work

Station Casinos, Inc., the company that owns Palace Station Hotel and Casino, Boulder Station Hotel and Casino, Santa Fe Station Hotel and Casino, Wildfire Casino, and Wild, Wild West Gambling Hall and Hotel, among many others, was named one of the top 100 companies to work for by Fortune magazine.

It was the only Nevada-based company to land on the list and was ranked higher than Fed Ex, Ernst & Young, Nike, and Yahoo. Station Casinos is number 55 on the list.

"The 100 Best Companies to Work For" list is compiled for Fortune by Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz of the Great Place to Work Institute in San Francisco. Companies are evaluated by looking at the policies and culture of each company, and listening to the opinions of the company's employees.

Two-thirds of the total score comes from employee responses to a 57-question survey that goes to a minimum of 400 randomly selected employees from each company. More than 100,000 employees from 466 companies participated in the survey this year, up from 356 candidate companies last year.

The survey asks about things such as attitudes towards management, job satisfaction, and camaraderie within the organization. The remaining one-third of the score is based on an evaluation of each company's demographic makeup, pay, and benefits programs and culture. <!--StartFragment -->A company is scored in four areas: credibility in its communication to employees, respect for career opportunities and benefits, fairness in compensation and diversity, and pride and camaraderie in the company's philanthropy and celebrations.

This was the second year in a row that Station Casinos was selected to the list.
