Ladbrokes to enter Italian poker marketLadbrokes has confirmed it will enter the burgeoning Italian poker market in January 2010 after receiving a licence from the Italian regulator.

Chief executive officer Chris Bell said of the move, “We are committed to expanding the international reach of our online business and Italy is an excellent regulated market opportunity.

“We hope that further positive changes in regulations in Italy will allow us to further expand our product range by launching cash games in poker, as well as bingo and casino gaming later this year.”

Companies such as PartyGaming and Gioco Digitale have made significant strides in the fast-growth market since it was deregulated earlier this year.

Currently online poker operators can only offer players tournaments but this will change in the new year as cash games come on stream.

Ladbrokes will expand into bingo and casino games in Italy later in 2010.
