Borgata Winter Open -- Poker Championship Draws 766 Players

Two Preliminary Events Drew More Than 1,000 Players in Atlantic City during the Borgata’s Winter Tournament Poker Series

Jeff MadsenThe $2 million-guaranteed Borgata Winter Open no-limit hold’em championship is currently in progress at the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The tournament has attracted a large field of 766 players, and 135 were still in the tournament when day 2 began. The total prize pool for the event is $2,527,800, and the first-place finisher will take home $625,006. The top 72 players will all walk away with at least $6,130. The current chip leader in the championship event is Jeff Madsen (pictured right) with 940,000.

The no-limit hold’em championship event is the 20th event on the schedule of the Borgata Winter Open tournament series (you can check out full preliminary event results below). Early highlights from the tournament series included a field of 1,563 players in event No. 1 ($400 no-limit hold’em deep stack) and a field of 1,100 players in event No. 14 ($200 no-limit hold’em with rebuys — $200,000 guaranteed). Professionals who won preliminary events at the Borgata Winter Open include Chris Reslock, who won event No. 15 ($350 pot-limit Omaha) and took home $9,370 for topping a field of 92 players, and Allen Kessler, who won event No. 19 ($400 Omaha eight-or-better/seven-card stud eight-or-better) and took home $14,744 for beating out 140 opponents.
