Belgium, which takes the six-month rotating EU council presidency in July 2010, is to use its position to try and clarify and unify the laws relating to online poker across Europe according to RTL.
The country recently joined Italy and France in regulating and licensing online poker allowing its nine nationalized casinos to offer online poker but blocking operators from outside its borders.
The report says 35,000 people play online poker each week in Belgium with 330,000 people playing at least once every six months. Over €110 million is bet on online games in the country every year.
