The World Poker Tour Bucharest got underway yesterday and is the first major poker tournament held in Romania. The €3,000 + €300 main event is being held at the Novotel Bucharest City Centre Hotel in the capital and attracted a number of big names among its 161 entrants including WPT Hollywood winner Carlos Mortensen, Dragan Galic, Sorel Mizzi, Pascal Perrault, Nicholas Levi, Praz Bansi, Casey Kastle, and Ran Azor.
The winner will take home €125,846 from the total prize pool of €449,450.
Day one saw its fair share of drama as well-known multi-millionaire and Steaua Bucharest Football Club owner Giovanni Becali threw a hissy fit and was ordered out of the tournament area.
