Students from all over the United Kingdom will pour into Edinburgh the first weekend of April to take part in what organizers are calling the largest Texas hold'em tournament to be played on the island.

The UK Student Poker Championship will send one player to the World Series of Poker's main event. The event is already sold out. It was capped at 300 players.

More than 40 British universities have poker societies that are affiliated with ukstudentpoker.com. The clubs were offered a chance to buy seats into the UK Student Poker Championship, which were given away at locally run events.

The buy-in for the event is £30. The winner receives the prize package to Las Vegas, and players who finish in the top 30 receive at least £100.

The Championship is open to any student 18 and older who is enrolled in a full-time higher education course. Last year, 259 students played in the event.

The Corn Exchange<!--StartFragment -->, site of the tournament, is a convention venue located on the east coast of Scotland.
