Helicopters, Powder, and Poker: A Week With Phil GordonUnique Vacation Package Provides Thrills on and off the Slopes |
|
Later this month, Phil Gordon will become the key ingredient in a vacation package designed for those who like to live on top of the world. Through Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH), Gordon will join a group of skiers who prefer helicopters over gondolas for a weeklong adventure in skiing and poker in the mountains of British Columbia.
CMH's Powder and Poker will take place April 22 through April 29 in 15,765 square kilometers (about 6,087 square miles) of mountains surrounding a lodge that has more amenities than a Hilton. During the day, Gordon and the others will be flying to and tackling pristine ski runs in the Selkirk Mountains.
During the evenings at the Adamant Lodge, Gordon will be giving lectures on how to become a world-class poker player. After each lesson, the group will play a no-limit Texas hold'em tournament. A champion will be crowned at the end of the week.
Using current exchange rates, the price for the trip is $5,000 for a twin room and $5,600 for a single. The price includes entry into the weekly tournaments (the champion will have a tax-deductible donation made in his name to the Put a Bad Beat on Cancer charity), transportation to and from Calgary International Airport, certified guides, the use of specially designed Heli-Skis and avalanche transceivers, and access to more than 100,000 vertical feet of runs.
The lodge sounds like a great destination in itself, offering a sauna and whirlpool, relaxation masseuses, exercise equipment, and a climbing wall. The place even comes with two kinds of chefs, a pastry and a regular one.
The package is limited to 33 people. Visit canadianmountainholidays.com for more information.
