PokerStars Announces Huge Caribbean Adventure ScheduleSeries Will Feature 47 Events |

In a press release on Tuesday, PokerStars announced the series schedule for the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure which will take place from Jan. 6-16 at the Atlantis Resort and Casino on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
A total of 47 events will run with an expected $25 million in prize money. In addition to the $10,000 main event, the PCA will feature three more high roller tournaments, including a $100,000 Super High Roller Championship to kick off the series.
In an effort to provide something for everyone, PokerStars has included a variety of games in the schedule such as pot-limit Omaha, H.O.E., mixed lowball, stud eight-or-better, Omaha eight-or-better and even Chinese poker.
PokerStars is hoping that their destination tournament series will become a festival of poker to become the largest series outside of the World Series of Poker.
“The PCA is truly a poker player’s paradise,” said PCA tournament director Michael Ward. “Each January thousands of players descend upon Atlantis to take part in the first major tournament of the year. Last year’s event produced over $24 million in total prize money and without a doubt the PCA 2011 is going to be richer than ever. The PCA is a must-play event for both the recreational and the professional player.”
Last year, American pro Harrison Gimbel took down the main event for $2.2 million, besting a final table that included Tyler Reiman, Benjamin Zamani, Ryan D’Angelo and Card Player’s own Barry Shulman.
PokerStars is currently running satellites to the main event on their site. Prize packages are worth $15,780 and include the main event buy-in, nine nights stay in Atlantis and $1,000 in spending money.
Over 200 players have already qualified for the main event including notable online pros such as Sorel Mizzi, Stephen Chidwick, Keven Stammen, Adam Sherman, Steven Burkholder, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Chris Oliver, Greg Hobson, Casey Jarzabek and Shannon Shorr.
