There's car insurance, homeowner's insurance, and boat insurance. Even athletes insure parts of their bodies in case of injury, so it was only a matter of time that someone figured out a way to provided tournament poker insurance.

And that someone is HollywoodPoker.com.

HollywoodPoker.com is offering World Series of Poker main event "bubble" insurance and, according to the site, already more than 3,000 players have registered for it.

The bubble is the harsh line that literally separates tournament winners from tournament losers. Land on the right side of the bubble, and you're in the money. Get knocked out one before that magical number where the pay structure kicks in, and you're on the bubble and out of luck.

HollywoodPoker.com will pay players who finish within five positions below the final paid position the amount that the final paid position receives in this year's main event.

At last year's main event, Carl Ygborn was the bubble boy when he finished 561. If he had had HollwoodPoker.com's insurance, he - and four players below him (if they also had the insurance) - would have received the $12,500 that all players who finished 560 and above were guaranteed.

Players need to earn 1,500 Poker Points at HollywoodPoker.com and register before July 12. The option is also available to players who won a WSOP main event seat at another site or bought into the main event for the full amount.

Poker Points are awarded to players playing in ring games at HollywoodPoker.com. The number of points awarded depends on the size of the rake collected from each pot. Visit the site for a more detailed explanation.
