A group of celebrities will put their money where their hearts are and compete in the second annual Children’s Institute, Inc. Celebrity Poker Tournament on October 23 at the Commerce Casino, near downtown Los Angeles.
Children’s Institute, Inc. has been serving at-risk children and families in the Los Angeles area since 1906. Last year’s charity event raised $80,000 to benefit children who have been traumatized by violence and neglect. Tuc Watkins won the event for $5,000, and he donated $1,000 right back to the Children’s Institute.
Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actress Camryn Manheim will host the event. Among those signed on to play are: Jason Alexander, Sean Astin, Hank Azaria, Brandon Beemer, Michael Bower, Tony Denison, Farah Fath, Joely Fisher, Deirdre Hall, Cheryl Hines, Michael John, Ricki Lake, John-Paul Lavoisier, Chad Lowe, Jesse Metcalfe, Kathy Najimy, Kevin Nealon, Cheri Oteri, Erik Palladino, Mimi Rogers, Sara Rue, and Tuc Watkins, among others.
Players participating in this year’s tournament will be competing for a $15,500 prize pool and a seat at the 2011 World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational.
