Cake Poker now has a part of the Online Player of the Year standings.Starting this Sunday, Cake Poker will become the sixth poker site to be included in the Card Player Online Player of the Year standings.

The top 20 finishers of the site’s big Sunday $100,000-guaranteed tournament (8 p.m. ET, $268 to enter) will earn points for the OPOY award in 2009.

(Note: Only players who play specifically on Cake will earn points, not those who play on a different site on the Cake Network. Thus, a player may finish in the top 20 in an OPOY-qualified event on the Cake Network and not earn points if the score was not made on a Cake account.)

Cake Poker, established in 2006, is now the fourth-largest poker network that allows American players (behind PokerStars, Full Tilt, and the Cereus Network; the Cereus Network is comprised of Absolute Poker and UltimateBet.)

The OPOY standings also award points to the top finishers at Bodog Poker’s major tournaments in addition to all of the sites mentioned above.

Cake Poker currently features a $25,000-guaranteed daily tournament, a $100,000-guaranteed weekly tournament on Sunday, and a $250,000-guaranteed monthly tournament on the last Sunday of every month.

At Cake, players are allowed to change their screen names once every seven days. For OPOY consideration, no player may change his screen name more than onceAlex 'AJKHoosier1' Kamberis in 2009, and Card Player must be notified of the change at [email protected].

For a tournament to be considered for the OPOY standings, it must have at least 100 entrants and a prize pool of at least $100,000. See the complete 2009 OPOY rules in the Online Poker section of CardPlayer.com.

In 2008, Alex “AJKHoosier1” Kamberis (pictured at left) distanced himself from the field to capture the OPOY title, while Steve “gboro780” Gross finished in second place.

New players to the site are eligible to receive an exclusive Cake Poker deposit bonus. Just type in "CardPlayer" in as your signup code.
