Teddy “Iceman” Monroe Gets Out the Way

With just about 2,000 already in the pot on a board of AJ69, The player in seat 10 asks Iceman how much he has before essentially putting him all in with a 2,500 bet on the turn. Iceman tanks for a while and contemplates his opponent’s “overbet” before ultimately folding he hand. “I’ll show you one time, baby”, seat 10 says as he turns over A-9 for two pair. Iceman breathes a sigh of relief as he makes a big laydown, reserving his last 1,200 chips for a better spot.

Will “The Thrill” Can’t Be Stopped

One player opens for a raise and Will “The Thrill” Failla calls behind him. The flop comes Q82, Failla’s opponent bets 1,500. Failla raises to 3,200 and his opponent moves all in for 9,000. Failla calls and shows K10 for the second nut flush. His opponent shows two red aces and bricks on the turn and river. Failla gets his eighth kill of the day, and is still very much amongst the chip leaders with 40,000 in chips. Correction: Failla has now knocked out eleven players.

Yevgeniy Timoshenko Doubles Up

WPT Championship Winner, Yevgeniy Timoshenko gets it all in pre-flop with AK against an opponent’s 66; Timoshenko was covered. The board comes KQ592, giving Timoshenko top pair on the flop. Timoshenko doubles up to just under 7,000 this hand.

Teddy Monroe Doubles Through Mike Sowers

Mike Sowers raised to 25,000 and Teddy Monroe reraised to 55,000 behind him. Sowers saw that he only had 29,000 behind so he put it in. Monroe called with pocket queens and was way ahead of Sowers and his J10.

The board came 75229 and Monroe doubled up to 150,000.

Teddy Monroe raised to 70,000 on the button and Dan Lu moved all in from the big blind. Monroe then called all in for an additional 90,000.

Lu showed pocket queens and Monroe showed pocket nines. The board came 874J6 and Monroe was eliminated in 16th place, earning $51,114.

Lu now has 650,000.

Clock Anyone?

Teddy Monroe and Payman Arjang are taking a very long time with each decision. In fact, they've been tanking on nearly every decision all tournament long.

Recently, both players were involved in a pot that took so long, that the other table was able to get through more than seven hands in the same time span. Amazingly, there was only about eight big blinds in the pot they were battling for. The hand would've taken longer, but Cornel Cimpan called the clock to put the rest of the table out of its misery.

Monroe took offense to the clock being called and complained about it to tournament director Matt Savage. On the very next hand, however, the clock was once again called on Monroe, forcing him to muck his hand yet again.

The other table has seen nearly four times as many hands and its starting to bother some of the players. Yet for some reason, it's Monroe who has been angered the most, accusing the rest of the table of angling against him.

Ali Eslami Eliminated in Seventh Place ($41,441)

Ali Eslami was knocked down to 70,000 on the first hand after dinner, and that put him in dire straights when he had already committed over half of his chips to a pot and the flop hit the table 744. Eslami bet 20,000 and Jimmy Shultz put him to an all-in decision with a raise. Eslami made the call and they turned up their cards. Eslami held 95, while Shultz held A5. The turn brought the A, which was too much for Eslami who busted in seventh place. He took home $41,441 in prize money.

Markus Golser Eliminated in Sixth Place ($53,453)

Shultz raised to 40,000 preflop and Markus Golser made the call. The flop rolled out Q109 and Golser moved all in for 20,000. Shultz made the call and the two players turned up their hands.

The turn and river bricked out and Golser was eliminated in sixth place. He took home $53,453 in prize money.

Vinny Vinh Doubles Up

Vinny VInh was perilously low on chips when he got all of them into the middle of the table preflop against Shultz. Their cards:

Vinh doubled up on the hand to 90,000, but he still needed some more ammo to climb back into contention. He used the momentum created on this hand well to eventually grow his stack to the half-million mark.

Teddy "Iceman" Monroe Eliminated in Fifth Place ($67,867)

Shultz raised to 40,000 preflop and Teddy "Iceman" Monroe made an all-in call for 30,000. Brendan Taylor also made the call and the flop hit the table 1092. Taylor and Shultz then checked the board as the the 8 fell on the turn, and the J fell on the river. Shultz reached for a bet on the river, but Taylor mucked his hand. Shultz revealed 87 and Monroe was out in fifth place when he mucked after the hand. The Iceman took home $67,867 in prize money.

Brendan Taylor Eliminated in Fourth Place ($82,882)

Vinny Vinh got the best of Brendan Taylor after his vocal antics may have induced him to get invloved in heavy action on every street of a board that read 332Q3. Taylor made an all-in call on the river, but then mucked when Vinh revealed pocket eights. Taylor was eliminated in fourth place, and he took home $82,882 in prize money.
