Known as "dot-com" for acquiring his fortune during the Internet boom, Paul Phillips is also a family man with a brilliant mind and gentle demeanor.
Born in San Francisco, California, Phillips wrote the Boa web server while in college, and became chief technical officer for Go2Net. The money he earned from his compensation is what he uses to play poker, and he enjoys a comfortable lifestyle. One of his colleagues discovered he had an interest in blackjack, and introduced him to the game of poker.
He has 23 recorded major tournament cashes and has made the final table in 18 of them. He has gone heads up in eight events, and won the 2001 L.A. Poker Classic, the 2003 Borgata Poker Open, and the 2003 Bellagio Five-Diamond World Poker Classic.
In the mid-2000's, Phillips virtually disappeared from the tournament circuit to spend more time with his family.
