Country of Origin: United States
Gioi Luong (prounounced "Joy") has been a successful tournament professional since early 2003. The Westminster, California, native has amassed millions in his career, and has become known for his quiet, yet aggressive play.
During the 2004 L.A. Poker Classic, Luong made five final tables and cashed six times in a period of just 16 days, an almost unthinkable accomplishment given the two-days-per-event structure. He followed that up with three more final tables and five cashes in the 2004 Legends of Poker series.
Not afraid to get it all in and gamble, Luong has made two WSOP final tables, and if it wasn't for a bad beat in 2007, he would've been an overwhelming favorite to win his first bracelet. As a testament to his love of the game, Luong has no problem playing even some of the lowest stakes around. One day Luong can be seen at the final table of a major $10,000 event, and the next day you can see him playing a $500 freezeout across town. His desire to keep himself in the action trumps the ego typically seen from most successful tournament professionals.
